Zach, Carolyn and Wyler's Family Photos

I have to admit, I was a little nervous when Zach and Carolyn told me they wanted to take their family pictures at the Safford Graham Cemetery. But when we pulled up I understood. The cemetery is placed up on top of the bluffs south of town giving a spectacular view of the Gila Valley and Mt. Graham. Not only was the view amazing, but I found out this land has special meaning to their family. Zach’s great grandfather grew up out east where water fills the graves as you dig them. So when he moved to the Gila Valley and continued the mortuary business he decided that he was going to put a cemetery up high where the water wouldn’t reach it and for the view. From the cemetery you can see the old family house too. I love places with meaning and stories.

I was able to snap a few shots of just Zach and Carolyn during their family photo shoot. Often this meant having Wyler sitting on my lap while shooting, but I’ve found that brings out some really great smiles and reactions from “Mom and Dad”.

Remember this little guy?
Well he’s grown quite a bit since that shot. In fact he’s grown a lot! Wyler is now 7 months old and he’s getting pretty darn cute. I was a little nervous about this shoot because when I saw Wyler last (in November) he didn’t like me much at all and I knew that could make this shoot interesting. But luckily it was completely different this time. When I walked in and Wyler saw me, he giggled and squealed (which his mom says he doesn’t do all that often), so I knew I was in and that he and I were going to get along just fine.
Look at those baby blues!
This has to be one of the creepier photos I’ve taken. The sun light reflecting on his eyes just happened to fall just right to block his pupils out.
Sitting next to Wyler in the car I decided to play dress ups. Hee hee.

Wonderful job! What lens did you use?

They are such a beautiful family and you captured that so well. It is still really odd to think of Carolyn married and having a little boy……

Thanks! I used my Nikkor 18-105mm lens. That's my basic lens that I use for most everything.

It is still a little weird that my little sister is married and has a baby. I suppose it's something I'll get used to someday. I'm starting to get used to it, but it still strikes me at odd times.
