I had to throw this next one in. Just had to. This horse had a sense of humor. We got so many with a tongue sticking out or a yawn.
Breanna, her sister, and 5 of their friends all play in a country band together called The Turner Mac Band. They’ve played at the Southern New Mexico Fair, the Grant County Fair, family parties, and community dances. Breanna plays the violin/fiddle, bass, guitar, and sings beautifully! It was only natural to include that part of who she is in the shoot!
I asked her if she would play something for me while I shot, and she just whipped it out right there on the spot. I can’t think of much better than being out on a gorgeous New Mexico ranch surrounded by friends, bathed in gorgeous light, and listening to a violin reverberate off the hills. It was amazing!
In the 4 years that I’ve been doing pictures with the McDonald’s we’ve done them at the same place on their gorgeous ranch. And yet every time it looks different, yet completely gorgeous! We’ve done photos at the height of summer with the “fried egg flowers” in full bloom. We’ve done a dry autumn when everything is golden and waning (and still beautiful)! This one little spot where the wash weaves through the hills, supporting a stand of cottonwoods and flowers, is stunning!
I told you at the beginning that leadership was an obvious part of who Breanna was, even as a 12 year old. She is the chapter president of her FFA chapter and brought her coat as part of the shoot.
Breanna is one of these people who is going to build up the world with goodness through her gentle leadership, her kindness, her inclusion of others, and her hard work ethic. She gives me hope for the future and I can’t wait to see where this next part of her adventure takes her!
