The first time I met Jordan in person was walking into the salon where she was getting her hair and makeup done for her wedding. From that first moment she was warm, friendly, and incredibly sweet! Even with some butterflies, she laughed with her bridesmaids, kept calm, and enjoyed her day completely! It didn’t take long at all to see just how much everyone around adores her. And oh, the look in Philip’s eyes when he saw his bride for the first time coming up the aisle, you knew instantly that he was head over heels. The two of them together are amazing. They have the sweetest chemistry and kindness, the kind of couple that people are just drawn to. All through the day Jordan would ask me, and many others, how we were, if we needed anything, and if she could get us something. They have a love and compassion for all those around them! And with the church packed to standing room only, it was evident that I wasn’t the only one who noticed this about them. After the ceremony they expressed their amazement at how many people came to see them married and to lend their love and support. It blew them away.
Jordan and Philip’s wedding was full of gorgeous wine and gold details, DIY decorations, pallet decor made by Philip’s father, and the most heartfelt tributes to Jordan’s father who had passed away two years ago. Every detail was in place and added up to such a gorgeous wedding.
This bridal party was a hoot! They all got along, banded together, and had the best dance moves! I LOVED the styles of the dresses each bridesmaid picked as well! They were all awesome!
This was one of the coldest days we’ve had this winter (when there’s snow falling in southern Arizona, you know it’s a cold day!), but they smiled and took it all in with such grace and joy. Nothing was going to mess up their day. During pictures Jordan said, “We only get married once. I can be cold for 30 minutes while we take pictures!” I could have hugged her death.
As we moved into this next pose Philip said, “Oh, this is one we’re really bad at. We just can’t do it.” Baloney. They NAILED it! These two were so photogenic and elegant! I think they surprised themselves!
Driving from the church to the reception venue, I came up the hill out of the valley and got instantly excited. Since I was alone in the car I think I even yelled. The sun had just broken through the clouds over Mt. Graham and the desert glowed. I pulled into the reception venue and called Philip. No answer. So I called Jordan. No answer. So I texted. No answer. Oh well. It would have been fun. And then about 10 minutes later I get a phone call from Jordan. “We came up the hill, saw the mountain and clouds and went to call you and saw your message! Let’s do it!!” Best couple ever! So we parked in a nearby parking lot and walked out into the gorgeous desert for some final portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Ornelas!
The way their families transformed the building into the reception was amazing! All the DIY details and work was so fun and fit them well! From the photo booth in the corner, to the table of pictures and mementos of Jordan’s Dad, to the handmade pallet decor, and the AMAZING cake stand…everything was perfect!
You guys. This cake blew everyone’s mind!! So many of the guests were floored when they realized this was the cake and not a log. And, not only is it beautiful, but it was DELICOUS! Torey (Cakes with TLC) is a cake boss!
The servers for dinner were an extra special team of of youth. Or two teams I should say! Jordan and Philip coach football and softball, and these are their team kids! How cool is that?!
This was the funniest garter toss I’ve EVER SEEN! No one had any idea what was coming. It appeared at first the Philip couldn’t find the garter. He came out a few times looking confused, and Jordan kept pointing to her leg “It’s right here!”. The crowd was already giggling. Then he emerged with a negligee, everyone busted up. Next he popped out with a softball, and then a bottle of champagne. The guests were rolling!
Jordan’s first dance with her Mom was so sweet and touching.
Philip and Jordan, you’re day was beautiful! Thank you so much for inviting me into such a sweet moment in your life together. I loved the hugs from your Moms, watching everyone dance, seeing the admiration everyone there has for you, and feeling your love and kindness. You two are amazing!
