Stephanie and Nathan | Northern Arizona Badlands Wedding Portraits

I’ve been looking forward to this session for what feels like forever! It hasn’t been all that long, but I’ve been that excited! When Stephanie and Nathan asked if we could go up to the Badlands for their last wedding portrait session I jumped on that fast. I’ve been dying to get a bride and groom out there!! These two are so natural to work with, I could shoot them all day long. A lot of that is the love they have for each other and their natural chemistry! They fit together so well and feel so natural together. They laugh, kiss, snuggle, joke, and it’s a blast getting to be there to capture all of that for them. Nathan joked that he didn’t brush up on his Pinterest poses this time, so I’d have to help him more. He may not have studied up like he did for their engagement session, but he didn’t need to at all. The looks of love and admiration that he showered on Stephanie were the sweetest, and exactly what I wanted to capture. Stephanie of course just exuded happiness. You can’t not be happy around these two. It’s not possible.

Stephanie and Nathan were married in the LDS Gila Valley Temple on January 21st, where Stephanie grew up, but had a reception in Holbrook, AZ where Nathan grew up. We couldn’t pass up the chance to get in some Northern Arizona portraits since they’d be all dressed up for the reception!

Apparently him getting a pointing picture is a thing…I couldn’t leave it out!

One fun thing about the Badlands is that in the hour and a half we were there, they changed dramatically as the sun sank lower and lower and as we moved in and out of the shade. Yellows morph into oranges, which deepen to reds, which then turn to purples and cool to blues. It’s pure magic out there!

When we lived near Stephanie’s family as newlyweds, people asked all the time if Stephanie and I were cousins, and it made me smile every time! After portraits in the badlands Cameron and I got to go to the reception in Holbrook and we laughed as I was asked 3 different times if I was Stephanie’s sister. I take that as a huge compliment! This girl is gorgeous!! (And nope…no relation!)

“Would it be okay if I dip her?” Oh Nathan, you’re my favorite! Yes!

Thank you! I’ve had some weird looks about shooting portraits (especially wedding portraits) in the badlands, but I really love it up there! It’s so surreal and unique!
