Before a few months ago, I’d never listened to a single podcast. Weird, I know. Yes…I live under a rock. It’s okay, we like our rock. I started listening to podcasts to hear the one and only Jenna Kutcher as she launched her Goal Digger Podcast. It’s amazing. Every time we get in the car to go anywhere Darrow asks to listen to the people talk. He’s as hooked as I am.
One episode I especially got hooked on was Jenna’s interview with Caitlyn Jeffrey, her Virtual Assistant. I ended that post with one thought. “How do I find me a V.A.?!” Well, two thoughts. “How the heck would I pay for a V.A.?!” and that thought was filed on the shelf labeled “Things I really want and need, but will have to work towards in the future when I can afford it.” That’s quite the large shelf. I think we all have that shelf overfull in our lives.
Well it wasn’t long after that I was perusing the feed for the Tuesday’s Together group when I saw a small notice in there about a Virtual Assistant looking to work with a photographer. Surely she wouldn’t pick me, but I threw my name in anyway.
And then came the day when I had that glorious message in my inbox from Lupita Santa, VA Extraordinaire. She wanted to work with ME?! I think I may have squealed. With just the little bit I’ve worked with Lupita already I can already tell she knows her stuff! She is sweet, personable, has the most infectious smile, and inspires confidence! Between the calls we have been on and the double-photo session we did, I already feel like she’s a friend, and I can’t wait to work with her more in the future. She’s AMAZING!
Last Monday we met up in Gilbert, AZ to do both a Mommy & Me session with her and her incredibly sweet and charming 7 month old boy, as well as a business head shot session. I loved both sessions so much!
We started with the Mommy & Me session at the Riparian Preserve on one of the most gorgeous days. This time of year is why people live in the Phoenix valley. It was warm, happy, and so absolutely perfect! After a wardrobe change with Asher (because babies like to pull those kinds of stunts last minute…it just happens!), we started in under the gorgeous willow trees overlooking the pond. Asher kept giving me the cutest smiles! He’s a charmer for sure!
Seeing the interactions between Lupita and Asher was tender! She sang to him and he’d light up.
Asher was incredibly interested in everything around him. If there was grass or leaves around, he didn’t have much interest in anything or anyone else! He had us cracking up!
After their session together we drove over to downtown Gilbert to get some shots of Lupita. I love this alleyway! It’s perfect for portraits! It’s always a little nerve-wrecking to be the only subject of a photo session. With a baby in your arms, you can put your energy into the baby, but when it’s just you in front of the camera it’s totally different. And even with her nerves (which I still totally get when I’m in front of the camera!), she did AMAZING! Her beautiful smile, graceful stance, and fun personality made this a breeze. It was fun to visit as we walked around!
Lupita’s sister Martha is a talented professional hair and makeup artist at Emvee Artistry, and did all of Lupita’s makeup for her session! What a powerhouse of talented sisters! I can’t wait to get to work with Martha more as well!
