Shelby & Nathan | Morenci Club Wedding

Shelby and Nathan’s gorgeous DIY wedding in Morenci, AZ was so incredibly sweet! Their day was packed with handmade details, amazing food, fun friends and family, the best First Kiss music ever, and topping it all was Shelby’s unending and dazzling smile!

Shelby and Nathan met and fell in love in high school. Their wedding was a celebration of such sweet love, overcoming hard times, and of friends and family coming together. You could feel the love and support that everyone has for Shelby and Nathan, and their sweet girl Scarlett, all day long!

The day started at the Morenci Club where Shelby and her girls were getting ready. Tucked in the dressing rooms backstage, they were having a ball! You could hear the laughter echoing off the stage and into the reception hall! Shelby prepared the sweetest gift boxes for her girls complete with beautiful pearl jewelry (with magnetic clasps! Genius!), and a wrap to match their dresses. She was so thoughtful! February in AZ is bipolar, so she wanted them to have wraps to warm in if it was chilly. But, they lucked out! It was mid-70’s that day and absolutely beautiful!! I was in heaven!

The ceremony was held at the First Assembly of God on a hill overlooking much of the town. You could see the excitement dancing in Shelby’s eyes when she stepped into the church ready to become Mrs McLemore! As all the guests got seated, and the bridal party lined up for their entrance, “When You Wish Upon a Star” began drifting over the speakers. The doors opened, and the Ring Bearer and Flower Girl (sweet Scarlett!) were ushered in. For a few seconds there I thought the Ring Bearer was going to chuck the pillow like a Football! It was so cute! Following the bridal party’s entrance the music then shifted to “Tale as Old as Time” to prepare for Shelby’s entrance. Finally, the doors opened, and there was Shelby arm-in-arm with her dad. It was beautiful!

The ceremony was short and sweet. They each had prepared handwritten vows for each other and read them in the ceremony. They were heartfelt, emotional, full of life, and bits of humor. Shelby has a room full of witnesses now to her vow to learn Metallica songs!

As the ceremony came to a close and the words, “You may kiss your bride!” were spoken, Nathan went in for the kiss and Sebastian, from The Little Mermaid, broke out over the speakers. “Sha La La La! Don’t be shy! Kiss the girl!” It was the most perfect First Kiss music ever!! After a short receiving line Mr. and Mrs. McLemore exited the building to a tunnel of bubbles and I thought Shelby’s face would split in two, her smile was even bigger!

After we all returned to the Morenci Club, portrait time began! We started with a few with Scarlett, but she was much less interested in family pictures or Mom and Dad kissing as she was in the fountain and promise of cookies. She was adorable! Shelby and Nathan were naturals with portraits. They snuggle up so cute! I loved working with their laid back, loving, and fun personalities!

And then it was time for dinner and the reception. And holy cow…the food! Nathan’s Grandma made all the food and it was to die for. I’m still dreaming of those red and green enchiladas that had just the right amount of kick, and such amazing chile flavor! Oh, so good! And the Polvorones, Mexican Wedding Cookies, were amazing!! They’re similar to biscochito’s, and I’m picky with biscochito’s. They were so light and yummy!

Guys. The decor. Shelby, along with her friends and family, made every bit of decor for the reception. They did such an amazing job!! The centerpieces were beautiful and gave such an elegant feel to the room. The chandelier was AWESOME! And the bouquets were gorgeous. Talk about talent!!

As everyone finished up their dinners, Nathan and Shelby went table to table to talk to their guests. I love when couples do that! It makes for such a more personal feel! They spent the rest of the night dancing, eating, and snuggling, and it was all perfect!

Shelby and Nathan, thank you so much for inviting me into your beautiful day! Your love for each other is evident to any who see you. I loved watching your sweet family come together and celebrate your love with you. You’ve been through highs and lows, and have only gotten stronger and your love has deepened, and that’s just what true love should do. I can’t wait to see how married life goes for you guys!
