One day while scrolling through Instagram I browsed past one of my cousins photos and then stopped. Scrolled back up. One word had caught my eye. Boyfriend. BOYFRIEND?!?! Immediately I went into stalker mode, but couldn’t find anything on him. Audrey was torturing us all. So I sat very impatiently and waited for more tid bits that she dropped for all of us. She was definitely enjoying this and doing it on purpose. One day I get a text message from Jalayne, one of my best friends from college.
“Oh my gosh!! Do you have a cousin named Audrey Neil?”
“Yay yay yay yay!!! She’s dating Luke’s little brother!” Luke is Jalayne’s husband.
“Are you kidding me?!?!?!?!?! I knew she was dating this tall kid but didn’t know a name! Ahhhhh!!!
“Hahaha, yup! He’s our tall kid! Oh man, I have very high hopes now!”
And we kept up hopes. This had to happen, it was too good to not. And now, it’s totally happening! And we’re all incredibly excited! They are such a cute couple, and so stinkin’ adorable. Audrey is so classy and gorgeous. When I grow up I want to look like her!
They were both such good sports. We had everything lined up for pictures on the dry lake beds. Only we forgot to put in a weather order. The wind was AWFUL! Dust storms closed the freeway and caused wrecks. As epic as dry lake bed pictures would be, they weren’t worth risking our life or having our skin sand blasted off for. So we changed up spots. They trusted me completely with the spot, and I went with somewhere new. Well, new as far as me having a camera in hand! We met up together out at the Black Hills Backcountry Byway at a BLM campsite. The desert out there is gorgeous, the view of Mt. Graham is beautiful, and the porphyritic andesite plug (I can’t believe I can still pull that out of my head…I think at least I’m pulling the right geology term out, lol) that juts out of the desert is amazing!
Seriously, these two are just about as cute as they come.
Her emerald engagement ring is to die for! I love the beautiful stone and the tear cut!
As the sun started to get low, Audrey and Caleb changed and we all ran up the hill. Well, ran until I realized just how out of shape I am and I crawled up the hill. But we got up high enough just in time to watch the sun sink below the horizon. Man this view is gorgeous!
We really didn’t feel that high up, until we realized just how small the cars looked from where we were at. We were up there, and we didn’t even make it to the top!
I think Ocotillo are one of my favorite cacti (right up there with Prickly Pear)! They just are so cool!
Audrey and Caleb, you two are fabulous! Thank you so much for all your patience with the location change and for coming out into the middle of nowhere for your pictures! Caleb, welcome to the family! You both have chosen well!
