In February I got an email from Laura Mae. She was in love!! No proposal had happened yet, but it was on the horizon and she wanted to get the party started! I was totally on board! It is so fun to get to be one of the ones that know in advance that a proposal and engagement is coming up!
In the weeks that followed we got to planning and looking at locations, clothing ideas, and dates. Every email I opened started with, “Well, it hasn’t happened yet, but I know it’s coming!” She was so excited! And come to find out she was also so terrified that something had happened to the ring as it was being shipped over (thanks to a carefully planted idea from Kyle, bahaha)!
Kyle and Laura Mae met the very first day of college in their very first class when their English teacher had them meet the person in front of them and behind them. Laura Mae excitedly told her roommates later that day about the cute guy she’d met in class. Fast forward to that next Sunday in church when Laura Mae looked up and saw Kyle there too! It was meant to be! As they told me their story last night it was amazing to hear how it all came together for them. Kyle wasn’t accepted to the Universities he wanted to get into out of High School, even though his academics and involvement was amazing. On a whim he applied to NMSU (on the last day possible), and got in! God needed him to go there to meet Laura Mae! Later in their friendship, Laura Mae was applying to dance companies and shows, but wasn’t accepted to any despite her talent and resume. They now laugh that God had to keep her schedule clear otherwise they wouldn’t have had time to spend together and fall in love.
Now they are working on a list of movies to catch Kyle up after missing two years worth of Hollywood hits while he served a two-year church mission. Through strategic seating arrangements when they got together with their roommates to watch movies, their romance took off and the two of them are now so cute and so in love.
I LOVED getting to meet Kyle and to go with the two of them up to the Ben Lilly Cliffs north of Silver City. I’ve been eyeing that spot since this past August (we nearly did our family pictures there until the idea of the playas came in), and was beyond excited to get a chance to take a couple out there. The weather was gorgeous and Kyle and Laura Mae were so snuggly, happy, excited, and fun to work with. I loved every single minute with them and can’t wait for their June wedding!!
