New Mexico Copper Styled Shoot

If you caught¬†yesterday’s post, you know all about what hits the blog here in this post today! I’m excited to get to share my photos with you of the styled shoot.
This styled shoot was a first for me. I’ve only participated in one other styled shoot and helped come up with the general theme. This time, it was someone else’s theme entirely. I helped with a lot of the background work, the communication with vendors and photographers, the logistics, but the styling was all Trisha’s brainchild and talent. But, I did get to introduce her to World Market…I take full credit for that beautiful new part of her life. ūüėČ Sorry Jake!! (World Market is one of our favorite places! If there’s one near you, go check it out!!)

We set up the styled shoot at City of Rock State Park near Faywood, NM. Guys, this place is amazing! Cameron and I had been before while he was doing his lizard study and fell in love with it then; it was fun to get to go back. The rocks provided the perfect shelter from the New Mexico breeze that never goes away, and they are just way cool. The table was loaned to us from The Furniture Gallery (where Cameron used to work while we lived in Silver City), and it matched the color of the rocks beautifully! The gray tones with the touches of warm tones made it look like it was made to be there in “The City”.

Trisha planned the design and look of the shoot around Silver City’s Kneeling Nun and the nearby copper industry. She is all about the big florals, the modern geometrics, and the copper and pulled those all together in her design and meshed them together so well.

The table smelled heavenly with all the varieties of eucalyptus! I just wanted to wrap myself in the table runner and soak in that smell. Maybe if our sweat smelled like that I’d exercise more just to smell so good! But that’s another topic…

That rock backdrop was possibly my favorite part of the “decor”. The natural arch there was so perfect, and the whole thing framed the table so beautifully!

The cake was provided by Melanie’s Sweets and Treats. Can you believe that was her first hand painted cake?! She did phenomenal! The hand painting and the florals combined made for such a beautiful combination. Melanie and Nana stuck around to watch the styled shoot, and jumped in to help hold veils, move chairs, and were even so sweet to divide the cake up and hand it out to all of us before they left! When someone asked her what flavor it was (before cutting into it) she said “Oh, it’s just vanilla.” “Just¬†vanilla?! Isn’t that the best flavor there is?!” I asked. And it was good, moist, yummy vanilla.¬†Let me tell you, it was scrumptious!!

Adding to the sweets table was a platter of fudge and truffles from The Hester House in downtown Silver City. I worked there for a year and visit it every time I go back, especially for their jalapeno fudge!!

Trisha actually bought the stand at a thrift store and gave it the gorgeous white makeover. It was perfect for this!

And, no styled shoot is complete without the models! Sasha and Stephen were amazing! They are an engaged couple from Albuquerque. While visiting with Stephen I found out he’s from “near Santa Fe”. He was surprised to find out that I know exactly where Lamy is, which meant he knew the little towns where Cameron and I grew up nearby there! It’s always fun to find a fellow north-central New Mexican!

They couldn’t have been cuter. And how fun to get to “practice” a wedding before you even have your own?!

Okay, did you see the same thing I saw while shooting? Stephen had the sweetest look all through the shoot. He just stared as Sasha in the most content, happy, and amazed look all evening. I mean, look at this picture of him watching the girls take pictures of his sweetheart!

Makes your heart melt a little, doesn’t it?!

While the girls were focusing on Sasha, I took that chance to get some shots with Stephen. He was so easy going, so ready and willing to jump in and help with set up and take down, and was completely in awe of Sasha through it all.

And then as the sun finally dipped down beneath the horizon it was time to light the candles and cut the cake!

I’m so ready for this warmth back! This was the end of this past September and it was just starting to get chilly, and I miss that when I thought it was chilly and not really when it was…like now.

Thank you! I’ve always loved Copper…it runs in our family! My dad and his brothers have all worked at copper mines and smelters as young men (and some still do), my parents have a copper roof (not real copper, but copper colored), and we all have a soft spot for copper decor!
