Mike and Callie || A Fort Grant Road, Gila Valley Engagement Session

Mike and Callie had the location all picked out for their engagement session. And then Frye Fire on Mount Graham exploded! The fire nearly got the telescopes on top of the mountain and closed off the entire range to the public. The spot they had picked out was low on the mountain, but still off limits. So they hopped in their car and went exploring, looking for just the right spot. I was so excited when they had found a spot that they loved even more than the first spot. Getting to shoot in new places is always so fun, and this location did not disappoint!

The day of the engagement session the wind shifted and was carrying the smoke west and southwest. Right over where we were planning to go. We all piled in their car and decided to just go check it out and see if it was doable, but the smoke looked pretty thick. We couldn’t even see the mountain!

Lucky for us, their spot was just south of the main column of smoke and we were able to do their engagement session! We still had a pretty good haze from the fire, but it was still so beautiful!

While planning the engagement session, Callie asked if it would be okay to include her daughter, Kennah, in some of the shots. “Of course!” I loved getting to do couple shots, but also shots of the three of them together. Kennah is a doll, and added so much to the session. Her smile is infectious, her laugh is heart warming, and she was just so happy and cute!

As Mike, Callie, and Kennah were changing so we could go to the next spot, a crew of firefighters pulled up on their way to check out a fire line. They were so patient while they all finished changing in the car. We’re so grateful for all of these men and women who worked the fire and put their lives on the line.

Mike and Callie, I can’t wait for your backyard wedding!! You guys have such fun and beautiful chemistry, and I know your wedding is going to reflect that completely! And Kennah…you have me completely smitten. Thanks for your awesome smile, and for letting me play Barbies with you while we waited for Cameron to come pick me up!
