Neither Martin nor Kara could quit smiling as they got ready for their Fort Tuthill Mexican Fiesta Wedding in Flagstaff, AZ this past weekend. They were so ready, so happy, and so full of awesome emotion. “I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a bride as happy as you are!” and all of us in the room had to agree with Amy, the talented Hair and Makeup Artist for the day. Kara and Martin just radiated joy and happiness!
Everything about this wedding was awesome. If you know me at all, you know I have a deep love of anything orange, so I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for months now! From the orange dresses, to the GORGEOUS cascading bouquet, to her beautiful gown and his immaculate mariachi suit, and the scrumptious food, their wedding was beautiful, fun, yummy, and full of life all the way through! The emotions packed into the day were incredible to take part in.
What kind of people are Martin and Kara, you ask? Well, when the owner of the restaurant where they both work shuts the place down for the day in honor of their wedding, you know these two have to be pretty special.
The day started at the Home Away they had reserved in Flagstaff for the bridal party to get ready at. We walked in and the atmosphere was so laid back, happy, and full of fun anticipation! We immediately got started on Kara’s details, and they just made my heart do happy dances!
At our first meeting, Kara and Martin told me their plans for Martin’s suit, and I couldn’t wait! It was PERFECT on him and for the day. Super fun!!
As the bridal preparations wrapped up, the rain clouds moved in. We’d all been watching and hoping they’d stay away, but they moved on in and drenched the town! We waited the worst of it out and then the show had to go on! For the Bridals and Bridesmaid shots we went out to the spectacular Arboretum at Flagstaff. Guys, this place is gorgeous! I’m totally sold!
And then it was time for the ceremony! The paper flower arch with the beautiful forest backdrop couldn’t have been a better combination. As I walked up to the ceremony site and say Martin for the first time that day, he ran over and gave me the biggest hug. He was so excited, and so excited to see me, and it made my entire day! Martin makes everyone around him feel better and appreciated!
I loved that Martin and Kara made sure that their sweet pups were a part of the day! Lucy’s tutu was quite the hit, and the boys’ bowties were adorable!
Kara and Martin wrote such heartfelt vows. Martin read his to her in English, and Kara read hers to him in Spanish. They created the most beautiful bilingual and blended wedding! It was touching on so many levels!
Going through the photos I got teary when I came the the shots of Kara’s Dad walking her down the aisle, and then nearly lost it when I got to this shot. Look at the love and joy shining out of his face!
You guys, they had the cutest first dance I’ve seen yet! They choreographed the first half and slow danced the second half, and it was so fun!!
Dinner was amazing. SO AMAZING! These “street tacos” were to die for, and the salsa were phenomenal. Oh man!
Between dinner and dancing, the evening was filled with heartfelt toasts, emotional dances with their parents, a dog pile to catch the garter, and as the sun set beneath the clouds we all got to see the prettiest rainbow light up the sky. It was all so beautiful, and such an amazing celebration of Kara and Martin.
Martin and Kara, thank you so much for inviting me into your day. I went home on cloud nine! From the way you both hugged me hello and goodbye, to the roller coaster of emotions I got to witness and feel all day, to the sweet way everyone there wanted to be near you both, the love you have for life and everyone around you is evident! Thank you for your goodness! I can’t wait to catch up with you guys again!
