In the Living Room of my childhood home was my Mother’s beautiful china cabinet, handmade by my Dad. There on the bottom shelf sat a blue and white checkered album next to two black bound albums. I spent hours of my childhood sitting on the floor by the china cabinet. I would pull those books out and pour over each page as I dove into the stories there in front of me.
Mom and Dad’s engagements in the mountains where we have our family reunion every year. Mom’s beautiful wedding dress that I wanted to wear someday for my wedding (but which I outgrew at 10!). Photos of my aunt and uncle singing at the reception. Mom and Dad dancing, something I still love watching to this day.
Seeing the photos and matching them to the real-life love story I saw between them every single day was powerful. Those books still sit in my parents Living Room, and I still love going through them. Those albums are treasures. They have been treasures all these years, but I’m especially grateful for them as Mom’s health goes up and down. I have a few scans of their wedding photos on my computer, but I’m realizing now that I want to have copies of those photos in my home. A “Parent Album” of my parents! Having that physical reminder of their love and example, along with my own wedding album, will be a strength to me and hopefully one day to my children.
Looks like I have a project on my hands!
Wedding photos are powerful. Not just your own, and not just to you. My parents photos have stuck with me through the years. Even now as I sit here typing this post and look at the photos above, I get misty. I have a profound feeling of gratitude for these two people and the marriage they have. It is such an amazing example to me and helps me resolve to be a better wife and to help make our marriage stronger.
Looking through our images brings up memories of seeing Cameron for the first time, of waiting at the fountain for my family to arrive, how beautiful I felt in the dress my mother made for me, of Cameron falling asleep during the ceremony (after a late night of trying to not get stuck in the mud going home), and of our family and friends that came out to support us. I get butterflies in my stomach all over again!
Let me say it again: Wedding photos are powerful. Can you imagine if during or after an argument with your sweetheart you were to sit and look through your album. Do you think you could stay fully mad? When you face trials in your marriage, and like my Mom and Grandma both told me, “it’s not IF you will face trials, but WHEN,” I challenge you to sit side by side on the sofa and look through your wedding album together. I don’t know any couple who could do this and not be reminded of their love and the fact that they can make it through anything…as long as they have one another.
I take my role as a sidekick seriously, and that goes beyond the wedding day. Your wedding photos have power in them. They can stop marital fights, be the center of date nights, bring families closer together, and serve as mini time capsules. Your album will be a family heirloom.
It’s true. Albums are expensive.
And, they SHOULD be.
Albums do not just store photos, they store memories. Not only that … albums tell stories. And you guys know I’m all about telling real life love stories!! Your stories! Pictures are meant to be used, held and enjoyed. Albums are the perfect way in which to create a multigenerational experience with your treasured photos. Albums will continue to be great storytellers long after the Facebook “likes” disappear and the USB’s get lost in a box in storage.
A custom wedding album is a forever family heirloom that tells the story of one of the most important days in a couple’s lives like no other product can. AND … it can live on to be shared and enjoyed across generations to come! (I may have to make two copies of my parents’ album and our album so that each child can have one!) That is an experience, not just a product, that is truly PRICELESS and worthy of an investment that will last a lifetime!
I have selected albums that speak volumes when it comes to value and custom workmanship. Photo albums with 4×6 prints are easy. Photo books from online sites are easy. Why bother with a custom album? Because these are heirlooms. I want you to have something special, something you couldn’t just go online and order on your own, for these photos that hold so much power.
These albums are exquisite! Each album is custom designed and printed on the finest quality Fuji Crystal Archival photographic paper and bound with a beautiful woven linen or 100% natural Italian leather cover that is soft to the touch yet durable. Lay-flat pages with a protective coating allow the story of your wedding day to shine through while helping the album stand the test of time. Only the best for my Prickly Pear VIP!
Each wedding package now includes credit towards a beautiful custom album! Again, as your sidekick it is my job to make sure that you look good, have the tools that you need to succeed, and make you feel awesome and an album is one of the best ways to accomplish all three of those.
Your album is designed to tell the full story and tell it in the best possible way. Consequently this will most likely include more pages than originally purchased. You don’t need to buy the additional spreads, I just want to make sure that option is there for you. A 15 spread (30 page) album yields approx. 45-75 photos. To keep a clean look and let the story flow I like to keep each spread to 3-6 images. Sometimes, though, more detail or dancing shots will fit cohesively on the page to tell the bigger picture better!
The first album design is created from my favorite images from the day, chosen to tell the story. Don’t worry though, you have two rounds of revisions! You can add or swap any of the photos you want!
Each wedding experience, my Mini Wedding Experience and my Full Wedding Experience come with an album! A 10×10 leather album with 15 spreads is included in every Full Wedding Experience. This comes with possible upgrades such as additional spreads, cameo windows, and engraved text on the cover. An 8×8 linen album with 10 spreads (to keep the package as “mini” as possible) is included now in each Mini Wedding Experience. This album comes with the option to upgrade to the 10×10 leather album, along with extra spreads, the cameo window, and engraving as well.
I can’t wait for you to have your album, your first family heirloom, in your hands and as a part of your home!
