Whenever I have the chance to Second Shoot for Erin with Sunshine Picture Project, a Deming, NM based photographer, I always have a ball and get to meet the nicest people! Erin is always prepared to the max and sees light in the most beautiful way. It was so fun to see all her planning come to fruition and to see how much her bride and groom trusted her. She made magic happen, and it was so fun to be there to be her sidekick for the day!
Second shooting is fun and challenging, stressful yet freeing! It’s working to anticipate the Primary Photographer’s needs, running errands, getting alternate angles from the one the Primary is getting, and getting to brag on the Primary all night. I love it!
Lauren and Richie’s wedding was so fun, and I was so impressed with how the whole day went. This was my first experience at a “Cake and Champagne Reception”, where the reception ended at sunset and before dinner, and it was awesome! It definitely put the emphasis on the sunset portraits (which are such an amazing part of the day, and Erin killed them!!), and everyone had a blast. From heartfelt Mother/Son and Daddy/Daughter dances, to the fun bubble exit, to the sweet “surprise” First Look, the entire day was full of meaning and sweet memories.
When you find good light, you maximize on it! Even if it’s in the upstairs game room at the church. Erin made magic happen! You should go check out her full blog post HERE to see the full finished product from her.
Lauren wanted to be able to surprise Richie for their First Look somehow. So Erin had me bring Richie out for “groom portraits”. After a few shots under the tree I mentioned that the light on the back of the church was better and that we should go around the corner. Little did her know that his bride was waiting there around the corner for him. It was so sweet and such a fun moment to get to watch.
This little man had me cracking up through the whole ceremony (don’t worry, I chuckled silently). He was hilarious!
I don’t think I have ever seen The Shoe Game played with better crowd response or facial expressions. These two were funny and their friends and family cheered and laughed every time!
If any bride is ever wondering what the fuss with sunset portraits is all about…check out the light in these portraits. Everything glows!! We had such amazing light that night!
Erin, making sure that even the ring was perfect for her angle. These two just kept on doing their thing and it was awesome!
Erin, thank you again for letting me come be your second shooter for the day. It was so fun, I love seeing your creativity flowing, and I always learn from how you do things! I can’t wait for Saturday to shoot together again!!
