I have been so excited for this engagement session for what feels like forever now! Kirsten has been so incredibly sweet from first contact. I knew these two were people I wanted to work with!! Their story is incredibly sweet, their chemistry is perfect, and the light was soft and pink! You couldn’t ask for a better combo for a Gates Pass Engagement session.
Kirsten’s very first email to me started with this phrase, “Our story is a little bit different, so I’m glad you are open to every love story being different!” After three years of marriage, Kirsten’s husband passed away during surgery leaving her as a young widow with a new baby. Life turned up-side-down. This woman is strong and amazing. I am in awe of her!
Then God brought Preston into her life at just the right time to help her heart and soul heal. These two have the sweetest chemistry and are so fun together. Preston adores Kirsten, and the way Kirsten looks at Preston melts your heart! My heart is just so happy for these two!
The night before the engagement shoot I noticed that Preston and I shared some mutual friends that I didn’t expect – my aunt, cousin, and EAC choir teacher. I looked at the photo albums he has posted up and saw a photo that he had taken from my parents front yard! Preston had served as a missionary in my parents hometown and in the surrounding areas! It was fun to find that connection! What a small world!!
We spent the engagement session laughing, quoting Brian Regan and favorite comedies, climbing up rocky hillsides and boulders (Kirsten was a ROCKSTAR in her heeled boots climbing all over the place for the photos!), and getting to know each other.
Gates Pass was full of people making their way up to watch sunset, and I don’t blame them. It’s a gorgeous sunset spot and conditions were right for a beautiful evening!
See, you love them already, don’t you?! You just can’t help but feel happy around these two. They exude joy! I’m sure all of Gates Pass could feel it!
Want to know how awesome these two are? Eegee’s, a Tucson restaurant has a flavor of the month for their Eegee drinks (similar to a Sonic slush, but not quite the same). Once that month is over the flavor is gone! January’s flavor of the month was Prickly Pear and everyone was sending me messages asking if I’d tried it. I couldn’t get down to Tucson in January and was super bummed because PRICKLY PEAR!!
So what did these two do?! They bought one for me and stuck it in their freezer so that after the shoot they could give it to me (thawed just to the point of perfection I might add)! I sipped and smiled all the way home. So good, and such an incredibly heartfelt gesture. These guys rock!
This is one of my favorite shots of the session! Well, actually this is 35 of my favorite shots from their session!! I LOVE taking time out at every session I possibly can to do a Brenizer method photo for each couple. It makes them POP, creates a beautiful panorama, and adds such beautiful creaminess to the final composite image! I could totally see this one printed HUGE! It’d be awesome!
Oh that pink glow of desert sunset! It never ever EVER gets old!
Preston and Kirsten, thank you SO much for your sweetness and your trust! I am just tickled to death to get to be your sidekick, and am in awe of your story, your faith, and your strength. I am beyond excited for the wedding, and even more to get to count you both as friends. A smile has not left my face since your session!
