Preston and Kirsten’s Tanque Verde Ranch Wedding in Tucson, AZ this past weekend was on one of the most GORGEOUS spring desert days I’ve ever seen. The venue was perfect, the temperatures couldn’t have been better, the spring wind halted for the day, and everything was beautiful! We lived in Tucson for two years while attending the UofA and had never been out to the ranch, so this was an extra treat! It’s absolutely spectacular and such a beautiful venue for a heartfelt wedding.
If you don’t remember from their engagement session, Preston and Kirsten have such an incredible and sweet story. Kirsten was a young widow and mom when she and Preston met. God brought Preston into her life at just the right time to help Kirsten’s heart and soul heal. These two are an amazing pair, and the whole day was charged with the sweetest energy and emotions. Preston loves on Kirsten and her son Bennett with all his heart, and you can see that Kirsten is home in Preston’s arms.
The staff at the Tanque Verde Ranch were amazing. Always incredibly helpful and friendly, and they did whatever they needed to for the wedding. I loved visiting with them and working with them. Most of all, I loved how much they loved on Kirsten and Preston and made them feel special and taken care of. They made the day so beautiful and rolled out the red carpet for Preston and Kirsten.
The day there at the Ranch started with the separate getting ready suites. The Tanque Verde Ranch staff gave Kirsten a beautiful room with big gorgeous windows to get ready in. They’d prepared the room with drinks and food (AMAZING pulled pork sandwiches) and made sure it was just right. Preston had a fun rustic room (also prepped with food…seriously guys-such good food and the day was full of it! MMMMmmm!) that overlooked the front lawn where he and his groomsmen hung out and got ready together.
When Kirsten went dress shopping, she found her dress at the first store. In fact, it was in the window at the store. How often do you find the one there waiting for you in the window?! It was the perfect dress!
Everyone loved Kirsten’s sparkly Kate Spade Keds! When you’re in the desert, closed toed shoes with good soles aren’t a bad idea at all! They were so cute and so fun!
I love the moment the bride sees herself in the mirror for the first time after hair and makeup are done!
For sunset photos for a Tanque Verde Ranch Wedding, they provide a van to drive us around to the three best spots for photos. It was so nice to have that and to be able to get to these three spots quickly and to have a fun guide (thanks Sarge!!) to tell us about the property. I noticed his name tag listed New Mexico as his home, so it was extra fun to get to talk about “home” and the common areas we know! He has some fun stories form his days as an actor and from being there in Santa Fe.
Preston’s Mother, Ann, came with us for portrait time to help with Bennett so we could get shots with him in them as well. It was so fun to watch the two of them together. Bennett and I even got to hang out a little in the van as we waited for gate to be opened to get up the hill for sunset photos. He’s a sweet and fun boy!
The reception and dinner were amazing! Such good food (seriously, I know I can’t quit talking about it but that’s because it was fabulous!), beautiful yet simple decor (my favorite), a great dj team, beautiful toasts, and such a fun crowd!
Preston and Kirsten, it was such an honor to get to be there for you at your wedding and through this whole season in your life. I was touched by your story, and by the love I saw at your engagement session and there on the wedding day. You both bring such sweet strength, hope, and joy to your relationship! I am so glad that God brought the two of you together and let me have a chance to come be your sidekick. You two (and Bennett!!) are amazing and I can’t wait to see where life takes you!
