Jason and Erica couldn’t have picked a more beautiful setting for their summer mountain wedding! Their Lazy Oaks Resort Wedding on the banks of Rainbow Lake was absolutely glowing and the perfect setting for this family to come together. Despite the high winds, their morale was high, their smiles rarely left their faces, and the day was absolutely beautiful!
The moment I pulled up to the resort, Jason was there to greet me like an old friend despite that this was our first time meeting. And then his adorable boys ran up and I knew the day was going to be amazing. After meeting them I headed down to the bridal suite where Erica and her girls were getting ready and it was such a fun and relaxed atmosphere! I’ve gotten the most calm and composed brides this year, it’s been amazing. They are just ready and excited to marry the love of their life!
There was so much of the day that showed me just the type of couple and people Jason and Erica are. When a couple attracts so many people there who are invested in them, willing to jump in however needed, who work to help other guests feel included and loved, and who do everything they can to make the day amazing, you know that the couple is incredibly special. I felt that from the moment I met both Jason and Erica and as I watched the day unfold it was evident that everyone else knew it even more. Erica even sent me home with a sweet gift from her wedding…on a day that is truly about her and Jason, she was still thinking of those around her and making people feel special and loved.
The wind made things interesting, but by working between gusts, finding strategic porches and branches, and just being patient the detail shots all came together so beautifully! I fell in love with her Vera Wang dress immediately! It was such a dreamy dress, I just loved the organza!! And oh goodness the florals! Raicesroot did the most amazing job with these gorgeous arrangements.
After detail shots I headed over to the guys’ cabin for their final prep. This crew is a hoot! They were so helpful to each other, so happy to be there, and so good natured. It was fun to see them interact and rally around Jason.
Fun note from the day: I ended up being the one to learn how to tie the bowties and tied them for each of the groomsmen! I’d never learned how before then, but was so glad I could jump in and help when it was needed. I take my role as a sidekick seriously!
Jason and Erica had the best flasks made for the groomsmen! These were so fun and such a big hit!
Back at the bridal suite, things were going along well. Erica looked stunning and her dress was absolutely perfect.
And suddenly it was time to walk down the aisle and get the party started! The wind thankfully died down enough to put the arch back up, but there was just enough of a breeze to keep it cool and bug free!
How many brides get proposed to at their own wedding?! This was such a sweet addition to the ceremony!
As Erica and Jason kissed as Man and Wife, everyone cheered and right on cue their pups started barking and howling! It was the most perfect unscripted moment!
This bridal party was so close knit and were all excited and happy for Jason and Erica. I loved watching them together and they made photo time WAY easy and fast!
Cutest flower girls and ring bearers ever!!
See?! These flowers are absolutely amazing, aren’t they?!
The cocktail bar, cake stand, and decor were all put together by Erica and Jason and their families. I loved how they all worked together, and even though they couldn’t put out all the decor they’d prepared because of the wind I thought it was beautiful! Simplicity really is stunning, and the feeling of the day just overflowed over everything. It truly didn’t feel like decor was missing. I loved it all!
When Sunset Portrait time rolled around, we slipped out of cocktail hour and walked down a jetty to the lake for the romantic portraits. And Jason and Erica killed it! I love their sweet chemistry, their respect for each other, and how much they feel at home in each other’s arms. They fit together in every way!
When you have the lake and a tree like this, who needs a huge amount of space?! This little jetty was the perfect spot for portraits. That evening glow, and the happiness radiating from Jason and Erica’s faces just stole the show.
Oh the dress!
The dinner was scrumptious and the reception was so fun and touching. From the heartfelt toasts from Jason’s brothers, to the sweet first dance, to the playful cake cutting, it was all so fitting and a great celebration of their love.
Jason and Erica, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to be there as your sidekick and memory capturer! Meeting your friends and family was such an honor, and I have so many amazing memories from the day. Everyone was so kind and looked out for you both, each other, and me. I rarely see such a close knit group at a wedding, and it was amazing to get to see that! Thank you for the sweet gift as well! It touched my heart!
