Ricky and Dahana met at the Pinon Cafe where Dahana works as a waitress. While growing up in the same town, the two didn’t officially meet until after high school. Now that’s a hard feat to accomplish in a small town! I was so excited when they said they wanted to begin their vintage Payson, AZ engagement session back where it all started at the Pinon Cafe! Shooting at a place with meaning adds so much to the photos and the story!
Dahana’s aunt and friend helped her get her hair and makeup on point for this vintage session. Every hair was perfectly in place! And the outfits they found and wore were absolutely spot on! How cute are these two?!
I don’t normally do many black and white photos in a session, but the vintage theme and this cafe combined for the perfect black and white photos…I couldn’t resist!
Following the time at the Pinon Cafe, we headed down the road to Green Valley park to the gorgeous willows and ponds they have there. They pulled out yet another FABULOUS vintage outfit for these shots and people honked and cheered and congratulated as they passed.
Dahana actually was a student of Cameron’s at the college here in town before she was ever looking for a wedding photographer! After she and Ricky got engaged and they were looking through photography websites, they came across mine. It didn’t take long before they started connecting the dots between Cameron and I!
Ricky is a graduate student down at ASU, so they keep the road between Payson and Tempe pretty hot going back and forth. I am so excited for them to get to finally make a home together. We totally know the living in two separate towns while engaged experience. It was so nice to finally quit having to say goodbye for days on end once we got married.
Their wedding in August is going to be one for the books!
Ricky and Dahana, I’m so honored to get to capture this amazing season in your life. The chance to experience your love story is truly a privilege. You have such a sweet and strong love, and the respect you have for each other is evident in every look and every gesture. I am so excited for August and to celebrate more with you and your families!
